Vacant | First Team Rehabilitation Therapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist or Sports Therapist to join Wigan Athletic’s First Team Medical Department.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Physiotherapy and will be involved in all aspects of treatment room, pitch and gym care for first team players. You will work within an extensive multidisciplinary team to provide treatment and rehabilitation to first team players with the aim of achieving the highest level of care possible. The position will be based primarily at the first team training ground, Christopher Park, Wigan, but travel to other sites will be required, therefore the successful candidate must have a UK driving license and be able to travel.

Work Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week on a flexible basis with evenings, weekends, and holidays required

Daily assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of first team squad players as required and advised by the Head of Physiotherapy.
Provide on-pitch medical cover at in-season training sessions for the first-team team as required.
Support to provide medical care at all first team home and away matches, including before, during and after the match. This includes staying away with the first team on overnight trips as needed.
Attend medical appointments for outside players, as and when directed.
Making medical notes according to CSP, SST or BASRAT standards for all players under your care.
Maintain appropriate qualifications to enable job completion and ensure adequate CPD to ensure quality best practices and in line with CSP, SST or BASRAT guidelines.
Take a leadership role to assist in the provision of pre-season and in-season assessments of first team players and lead from this to help provide rehabilitation programs to all first team players to help reduce risk of injuries.
Responsible for managing first team medical equipment and clinical supplies stocks and assisting in ordering such supplies.
Responsible together with the soft tissue therapist of the first sports team for the packaging of medical supplies throughout the day of the game.
Responsible for creating and managing the injury audit and regular injury reports for the first team.
Work within the interdisciplinary Sports Science and Medicine (SSM) team to support player development and education.
Assist in the pre-medical evaluation process of new first team players as directed by the Head of Medical Services.
Cover injury clinics during club designated days off, as and when directed by the Head of Medical Services, to provide first team squad with player care seven days a week when required.
The selected candidate will have/will be:

BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy or Sports Therapy
Registered membership in CSP, SST or BASRAT
Update of the Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMiF) qualification of FA.
Previous postgraduate experience working in a professional sports environment.
A full UK driving license
